The Importance of Writing Clearly by Clara Thompson
The Importance of Writing Clearly.
In the world of professional writing or any environment that demands strong writing skills, it is important to write clearly. Your reader needs not only to be able to read your composed piece but also understand it. Below are a few tips on writing clearly.
-Know your objective- Have a clear understanding of what your subject is and be familiar with it enough to be able to write about it. Also, know where you are going and what you want to accomplish. When you know what your goals are, it is easier to achieve them.
-Create an outline- An outline will help you to organize all of your information and present it in an easy to follow manner.
-Use plain language-simple words and plain talk. Write in short, easy to read sentences. To communicate effectively, simple is better.
-Concentrate on your reader-Help your readers get involved with your topic, help them to understand it and remember it. Watch your use of pronouns. The use of "you/yours" instead of "me/mine" takes of focus off of you and onto your reader.
It is important that you are able to catch your readers attention and keep them reading the entire piece of work. This calls for a strong introduction. Without it, the reader will loose interest and fail to read the entire document. For more helpful tips, please see the link below.

Clara, very useful tips and great layout, and use of white space. You might want to use italics or different font for some points to really stand out next time, and don't be afraid to make the image bigger! Great job, girl!:)
ReplyDeletegreat and useful post. many forget keeping it simple is effective as well.
ReplyDeleteGreat post! :D
ReplyDeleteI do agree with you Vik on Bolding or Italics
Or jump down a line and indent. Making it alittle easier to see. However the information is excellent.
I also agree with Vik on this one. You might want to try and find better visuals for your posts. I do like the fact that your post is very informative and set up to easily read. Can't wait to see what you have for next week.
ReplyDeleteGood post...but more voice needed...a couple of mistakes (lose not loose and an apostrophe missing on reader's attention). The mistakes happened in the last paragraph.
ReplyDeleteClara,
ReplyDeleteGood information throughout; but what happened to that awesome voice!? The information was great, but it sounded quoted in some parts. Also, please be sure to read and read again, and read out loud and than read again to catch your grammatical errors in the posting. 250 is too few words to have any excuse for silly writing errors. Overall though, great information and use of graphic to pull the quality of the post up!
Clarity is not only a problem in writing but in all aspects of life. Many mistakes are due to lack of clarity. I believe it was the US and Russia space agencies but two counties launched a satellite into space. Both counties were using a different form of measurement resulting in the satellite crashing because no stander was clearly laid out.
